Plateau (Bondum) Samari  : Comme tant d’autres villages du plateau, Samari a cherché refuge sur une dalle rocheuse. La piste qui mène au village traverse une gorge peu profonde barrée par un long mur de pierres sèches. La qualité défensive du site nous rappelle que toute la région était en proie aux attaques des Peuls. Leur présence à Dè au nord du plateau date du 15e siècle. Ils étaient une menace permanente pour toute la région. Certaines maisons sont pourvues d’une porte d’entrée construite dans une niche et présentent des similitudes avec le style architectural des villes du fleuve Niger. Par endroits, des petits passages couverts se faufilent sous les maisons et relient les ruelles du village. C’est un trait commun à d’autres villages du Bondum tels Tintam et Mongui. Les habitants de Samari portent le patronyme Guindeba. L’ancêtre fondateur se nomme Sembo Bara, ce qui signifie « ajouter la force ». La tradition dit qu’il est venu du Mandé, longea le fleuve Niger et passa par la région de Borko (Nombore) avant de s’installer à Samari.

Plateau (Bondum) Samari : As so many villages on the plateau, Samari took refuge on a rocky slab. The track that leads to the village crosses a wide but shallow gorge that is sealed off by a long dry stone wall. The defensive quality of the site reminds us that the Bondum region was easy prey to sporadic Fulani attacks. Their presence at Dè on the North plateau dates back to the 15th century. They were a constant threat to the whole region. A number of houses have a doorway built in a niche and show architectural similarities with the urban style of the Niger River. Here and there, small covered passageways run under the houses and connect the narrow alleys of the village. It is a common trait in the Bondum shared by villages like Tintam and Mongui. The patronymic name of Samari’s inhabitants is Guindeba. The name of their founding ancestor is Sembo Bara which means « to add strength ». Tradition has it that he came from the Mande, followed the Niger river and temporarily stayed at Nombore (Borko region) before settling down at Samari.
